FADE IN:
INT. APARTMENT NIGHT
A man is just getting home from a late night at work. Rain rolls down the windows and can be heard bouncing off of the roof. He walks through the LIVING ROOM into the:
DINING ROOM
where he turns on the light, sets his briefcase on the table, opens it, sits at the end of table and begins to do some paper work
MAN
This shit just never ends...
While the man is working, someone else walks by behind him, but all that can be seen is a pair of legs with an axe swinging beside them. This other person, who is only seen from behind, sneaks up from behind the man. Just as the working man looks up and turns to see him, the axeman lifts the axe above his head and brings it down as thunder clashes, taking off the working man’s left arm.
MAN
(screaming)
AHHHHHH!!!!!!
The man falls to the ground and rolls around for a bit, holding his shoulder with his right hand. He then sees the axeman and screams and begins to crawl toward the phone in a panic, leaving a trail of blood on the hardwood floor behind him. He crawls out of the DINING ROOM, back into the:
LIVING ROOM
when the axeman walks up to him and swings the axe again taking off his right leg, again with just one swing.
MAN
(eyes squinting in pain, yelling)
What the fuck did I do to deserve this!!! And who the hell are you??!!!!
The axeman stands over his now helpless victim, and with one final swing of the axe, beheads the man. The killer then walks back into the:
DINING ROOM
and picks the arm up off of the floor. He slings it over his left sholder and walks out of the DINING ROOM into the:
LIVING ROOM
and out the door, closing it behind him.
EXT. LARGE APARTMENT BUILDING MORNING
The apartment building sits on a busy street. Cars are driving by constantly, People are walking and talking, and bicycle bells can be heard.
INT. SANDY’S BEDROOM MORNING
Sandy wakes up, stretches and rubs her eyes. She blinks a couple of time the rolls over and picks up the phone. She dials and waits. The phone rings twice and is then answered on the other end of the line.
KEN
(On other end of phone
line, Half awake)
Hello?
SANDY
(Half awake)
Hey babe.
KEN
(Excited)
Sweetheart! What’s new?
SANDY
(Bored)
Not too much. Just wanted to see if we were still on for today...Are we?
KEN
Of course we are! Figure out where you want to go yet?
SANDY
It really doesn’t matter to me Ken. Besides, I chose last time. It’s your turn.
KEN
Okay, okay. But I’m not going to tell you, I want it to be a surprise!
SANDY
(pleading)
Please make it somewhere sort of classy. No more fast food!
KEN
(chuckles)
Okay, I promise. No fast food.
Sandy hangs up the phone and lays in bed for a few more seconds, smiling.
SANDY
(To herself, satisfied)
Gosh, he’s so perfect...
She gets out of bed and heads for the:
BATHROOM
She looks in the mirror, yawns, then brushes her teeth. She takes her clothes off and gets into the shower. As she washes her hair she is whistling. There is a loud bang in the kitchen which startles her. She rushes to rinse her hair and gets out of the shower. She throws her bathrobe on and rushes to the:
KITCHEN
To investigate the noise.
SANDY
(worried and a little frightened)
Hello?
There is no answer.
SANDY
(less frightened)
Hello?
Her cat, Booger, jumps from the counter and lands in front of her.
SANDY
(startled)
AHHH!!
(annoyed but relieved)
Booger, don’t scare me like that!
The cat rubs up against her legs. She pets it and then exits the room.
INT. KEN’S BEDROOM AFTERNOON
Ken is just finishing buttoning his shirt in the mirror. He sprays on some cologne and asjust his cuffs.
KEN
(confident)
Lookin’ good hot stuff!
He leaves the room.
INT. KEN’S GARAGE AFTERNOON
Ken walks into his garage and looks at his car, a nice sports car. He walks around the car, looking closely for any kind of marks that shouldn’t be there. He stops at the right fender, takes a rag out of his pocket, and rubs it.
KEN
Can’t have my baby all dirty now, can we?
He hops in, buckles up, starts the car, backs out and drives off.
INT. SANDY’S LIVINGROOM AFTERNOON
The door bell rings. Sandy hurries across the room to answer the door.
SANDY
(Yells)
Coming!
She opens the door to reveal Ken, leaning up against the doorway with a dozen or so red and white roses, with a black one in the middle.
KEN
Hey beautiful.
Sandy jumps and screams with excitement upon seeing the flowers. She gives him a huge hug and a kiss. She takes the flowers.
SANDY
(excited)
I’ll go put these in some water and then we can leave.
KEN
Take your time. I’m in no hurry.
Ken enters the LIVING ROOM and sits on the couch.
Booger jumps up and lies in his lap.
KEN
Hey, Booger! How’s my little buddy doing today?
Booger begins to purr as Ken pets him. Sandy returns with the flowers in a nice glass vase. She sets them down on the coffee table.
SANDY
Ready?
Booger rubs her head on Ken’s chest, looks at Sandy and meows.
KEN
(jokingly)
If Booger will let me go.
Sandy sighs and leaves the room.
SANDY
(from the kitchen)
Who wants catnip?
A bag can be heard from the kitchen and Booger leaps from Ken’s lap and hurries out of the room.
SANDY
Ready now?
KEN
I guess I don’t really have much of a choice here do I?
Sandy rolls her eyes and grabs Ken by the collar of his shirt.
SANDY
Let’s go.
She drags him out of the apartment.
INT. KEN’S CAR LATE AFTERNOON
The radio is on, tuned into the local classic rock station. Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water” is playing. Ken is singing along and really getting into it. Sandy turns down the radio.
KEN
(Surprised and a little angry)
Hey!
SANDY
So, where are we going?
KEN
I told you, it’s a surprise.
SANDY
You still won’t tell me??
KEN
You’ll find out when we get there. Patience, babe. Patience.
Sandy sighs and Ken turns the radio back up and continues singing.
EXT. BENNINGTON’S PARKING LOT LATE AFTERNOON
Ken’s car pulls into the parking lot and right into a space near the doors.
INT. KEN’S CAR LATE AFTERNOON
SANDY
(excited)
Bennington’s?! Wow! We’ve never been here before. It’s supposed to be the fanciest restaurant in the whole city!
(Reluctant,curious)
This isn’t a joke, right?
KEN
(offended)
Of course not! It’s our 5th anniversary. I wanted to go big.
SANDY
How did you get reservations? Everyone tells me they’re always completely booked.
KEN
Right when I got home from our anniversary dinner last year, I called and made these. That’s why we’re eating lunch. Evening was full already. But let’s go inside, before they give our table away.
Ken shuts the car off and gets out. He walks around the car and let’s Sandy out.
SANDY
(Gracious)
Thank you.
He closes the door behind her and wraps his arm around her. He locks the car with the power lock on his keychain and the two of them head into the restaurant.
INT. BENNINGTON’S RESTAURANT LATE AFTERNOON
They walk up to the waitress waiting at the door. She is rather young, and kind of attractive.
WAITRESS
(New Jersey accent)
Halden, party of two?
KEN
Precisely.
WAITRESS
Right this way.
The waitress leads them to the other side of the restaurant, to a booth right next to a window, with a lovely view of a fresh, clean pond surrounded by flowers.
SANDY
(impressed)
Oh, Ken... It’s so beautiful...
WAITRESS
Good afternoon. My name is Chloe, and I will be your server today. Is there anything I can get you to start off with?
KEN
A bottle of your finest wine would be great.
WAITRESS
Sure thing.
The waitress leaves menus on the table and goes to get the wine. Ken and Sandy look at the menus.
KEN
(hungry)
Mmmmmm. It all sounds so good. I have no idea what to get.
SANDY
(Overwhelmed)
Me neither.
Sandy looks at the menu with wide eyes, overwhelmed by the selection.
SANDY
(astonished)
Even their cheeseburger look classy.
KEN
(Excited)
I know, isn’t it great!
Sandy looks across the table at Ken and stares at him for a moment with a worried look on her face.
SANDY
(nervous)
Ken, would you mind staying with me at my place tonight?
KEN
(concerned)
What’s wrong?
SANDY
(Frightened)
There was another murder last night. I’m really starting to get scared Ken. The police can’t find any connections between them, and they say anyone could be next. The only reason they’re sure it’s the same guy is because body parts of all the victims are missing. So will you stay?
KEN
(Reassuringly)
Absolutely.
The waitress returns with the wine. She places a glass in fornt of Ken and another in front of Sandy and fills them up.
KEN AND SANDY
Thank you.
WAITRESS
Your welcome. Are you ready to order?
INT. HALLWAY OUTSIDE SANDY’S APARTMENT NIGHT
Ken is carrying Sandy, who has obviously had a little too much to drink. He get to her door, stands her up, still holding her with one arm and struggles with the lock. He finally gets it open and picks her back up and enters the:
LIVING ROOM
He puts Sandy down on the couch, brushes hair out of her face and kisses her forehead. He then heads to the:
BATHROOM
He examines his eyes in the mirror, unbuttons his cuffs, and urinates. While urinating he begins to whistle the opening guitar riff to Smoke on the Water. He goes back into the:
LIVING ROOM
where the drunken Sandy has awoken, and is watching TV. The glow from the TV can be seen on her face, and laughter can be heard.
SANDY
(slurring)
Don’t forget, you, you, you promised to stay with me tonight.
KEN
I didn’t forget sweetheart. But I hope you don’t mind me sleeping in my undies, because my Pajamas are at home.
SANDY
(provocative, slurring)
Oh, no. I don’t mind one bit.
She winks at him and the passes out in his lap. He chuckles and picks her up and carries her into the:
BEDROOM
He pulls back the covers, places her in bed, and covers her up. Then he goes around to the other side of the bed, strips down to his underwear, and climbs in next to her. She rolls over and holds him tight and the two of them fall asleep.
INT. SANDY’S BEDROOM MORNING
The alarm sounds and Sandy awakens to find Ken missing from her side.
SANDY
(half awake, yelling, startled)
Ken?
KEN
(from the shower in the BATHROOM)
Yeah?
SANDY
Nothing, just checking if you were still here. Are you gonna be long? If I don’t get in the shower soon I’ll be late for work.
The water stops. Ken walks into the bedroom in his clothes from last night.
KEN
Bathrooms all yours, hun. I got to go. There’s pancakes in the kitchen for you if you want them.
SANDY
Ok. I’ll see you later then. I love you.
KEN
I love you too.
They kiss and Ken leaves and Sandy get out of bed and goes to the KITCHEN to eat her pancakes. When she is about done she looks at the clock. It’s 7:30.
SANDY
(Surprised)
Oh shit! I’m running late!
She runs to the:
BATHROOM
and brushes her teeth. She looks at the bathtub.
SANDY
No time for a shower today, unfortunately.
She pulls her hair back into a tight bun and runs to the:
BEDROOM
And quickly undresses until she is in nothing but her underwear. She throws on a nice skirt. She looks in the mirror and cringes. She goes back to the:
BATHROOM
And redoes her make up. She sprays on some perfume and then heads for the:
LIVING ROOM
She grabs her purse and walks out the door into the:
HALLWAY
She locks the door behind her. She hurries down the HALLWAY, and gets to the door at the end. She checks her watch and rolls her eyes.
SANDY
(Giving up)
No use hurrying now.
She opens the door, but before she leaves she checks back over her shoulder and looks around the hallway, a little scared and nervous. She leaves and the door closes.
INT. HIGH SCHOOL MAIN OFFICE MORNING
Sandy walks into the office where the school principal, John Naffis, is waiting.
MR. NAFFIS
Hello, Sandra. Nice of you to make it in this morning.
SANDY
I’m only five minutes late John.
MR. NAFFIS
Yes, five minutes today, ten tomorrow and so on.
SANDY
You know that isn’t true. Look, I’m sorry I’m late. I went out with Ken for our anniversary last night and he made me breakfast this morning. I did the best I could to get here on time, and I was damn close, so please just get off my case.
MR. NAFFIS
(sarcastic)
Yes ma’am. Do a little drinking last night did you.
SANDY
That’s really none of your business, now is it John?
MR. NAFFIS
(Frustrated)
Just make sure all your work is done by the end of the day.
SANDY
(aggravated)
Will do.
EXT. TRAFFIC LIGHTS MORNING
Ken’s car is seen stopped at the lights. The light turns green and his car drives off into the distance.
INT. POOR WOMAN’S BEDROOM LATE MORNING
A hispanic woman in her late thirties is brushing her long black hair in the mirror. She looks down for a second and a man in a hood is seen walking past the doorway behind her in the reflection of the mirror. She stops and looks behind her. By the time she turns around, the man can not be seen.
WOMAN
(Nervous)
Hello? Is someone there?
There is no answer, so she shrugs and finishes with her hair. She stands up and stretches. She grabs her coat from her bedpost, puts it on, then grabs her purse from her the table in front of the mirror. As she walk out of her bedroom into the:
LIVING ROOM
She is stabbed in her right side with a large knife. She goes down to one knee only for a moment and comes up again. The hooded man stabs her a second time, this time in her left side. She goes down to the floor and rolls over onto her back. The hooded man stands above her, his face covered by the hood, with the knife above his head, ready to deliver the final blow. She lifts her left leg and kicks him hard in the stomach, sending him flying backward into a table, knocking it over and smashing a lamp on the floor. The woman gets up and goes over to the man. She kicks him hard in his rib cage as he tries to stand up. The hooded man rolls over onto his back, where the woman pulls his hood off so his face can be seen. It is Ken.
WOMAN
I don’t know who the fuck you are, or what your problem with me is, but you chose the wrong bitch to mess with today buddy.
KEN
(laughs)
Did I? I should have expected such a fight from a street rat.
WOMAN
(very angry)
What the Christ did you just say to me? Did you just call me a street rat? At least I’m not running around stabbing people I don’t even fucking know!
KEN
(whispering to self)
You won’t be running at all in a second...
WOMAN
What was that?
Without answering, Ken runs the blade of the knife into the woman’s Achilles tendon and pulls it out. The woman screams and falls to the ground holding her new wound. Ken quickly get back to his feet and goes over to where the woman lies. he stabs her in the back of her left knee.
KEN
(Angry)
Maybe if you did more than run your mouth, you could have stopped me. Gave me quite a scare there you did. Thought I might have gotten caught. But you just stood there and ran your mouth about nothing and let me regain my breath. Good thing you live so far away from civilization and no one heard you scream. Scream again if you want, I won’t mind. Fact is, you’re going to die. I was going to do it relatively quickly, because you’re poor and have suffered enough. But you had to fuck everything up, didn’t you? And know I’m going to let you feel it.
WOMAN
(crying and angry)
You sick bastard. You’re never going to get away with this. You know that don’t you?
KEN
Oh, of course I will. You think your the first person I’ve been after? You watch the news? All those killings? Yeah those were me. The retards down at the police force are too busy trying to link all the murders together, to find a connection. It will be a while before they catch me.
WOMAN
Why are you doing this?
KEN
Enough chit chat. I can’t make the same mistake you did.
He kicks her hard in the chest and then stabs her lower back. He jumps onto her back and smashes her face into the floor Breaking her nose and bloodying her face. He sees that she is starting to pass out so he rolls her over and gives her a light kick to head, waking her up.
KEN
Now, now. No passing out. You have to feel it remember?
WOMAN
(coughing up blood, weak)
Fuck you.
Ken becomes infuriated and repeatedly stabs the woman in the stomach. The woman is gurgling and coughing up blood. With each stab, more blood sprays across the room. After five stabs he stops.
KEN
(breathing heavily)
Not dead yet? Man your tougher than I thought. Seen a few fights in your day?
The woman can no longer speak. She continually coughs up blood. Ken looks at her, amazed.
KEN
Alright, I think you’ve had enough.
Ken get on top of the woman and runs the knife through her neck. She chokes and gurgles for a moment, then finally dies.
KEN
(regretful)
I really didn’t want to do it like that. A nice little poke in the head was my original plan. But you had to piss me off didn’t you? You should never piss me off.
He picks up the woman’s left arm and hacks of her hand. It takes a few hacks, but he finally gets it. He pulls a trash bag from his pocket and throws the hand in it, wrapping it up tightly. He covers the body with a blanket from the bed, and then leaves.
INT. SANDY’S OFFICE AFTERNOON
SANDY
(on telephone, joyfully)
OK? Buh-bye.
Just as she hangs up the phone, a news report comes on TV about a murder that has just taken place.
SANDY
(horrified)
Oh no...not another one.
The report can be seen on the TV in the upper right corner of the room.
REPORTER
This is murder number five within the past two weeks, and police are still unable to make a connection between the victims. The police strongly caution you to be careful, because they are unable to tell who’s going to be next.
Sandy puts her hand over her mouth, as a shot of the body being wheeled out of the house is shown on the TV. There is a sheet over the body, with blood seeping through. Sandy’s eyes tear up and she runs out of her office and into the:
SCHOOL BATHROOM
Where she locks herself in a stall and begins to cry silently. Tears stream down the sides of her face. Somebody else enters the BATHROOM. They go into the stall to the right of her, do their business, and leave.
SANDY
(disgusted)
Wash your hands next time. That’s disgusting...
Sandy wipes the tears from her face, and exits the stall. She walks over to the sink, washes her hands, and splashes some water on her face. She dries her hands and face and leaves the BATHROOM into the:
HALLWAY
And walks down, back toward her office. She stops at a the door to a classroom and looks in through the window. She can see the teacher up in front of the class, and he has apparently cracked a joke as all the kids are laughing. She smiles, and heads back to:
HER OFFICE
Where the phone rings and she answers it.
SANDY
(joyfully)
Hello? How may I help you today?
INT. KEN’S GARAGE AFTERNOON
Ken pulls into the garage and gets out of the car. He goes around to the back seat and reaches in, pulling out a black garbage bag that has been tightly wrapped around the woman’s hand, and the knife he used to kill her. He starts to whistle a joyful tune and enters:
HIS KITCHEN
Where he walks over to a door. He opens the door and heads down the stairs into:
THE BASEMENT
He stops at the bottom of the stairs and reaches up and pulls a string, turning on the light. He walks to his left to a big freezer, and throws in the hand, still wrapped in the trash bag. He then crosses over to the other side of the room to a huge cabinet, opens it, revealing all kinds of different hunting tools and various weapons. He puts the bloodstained knife in the cabinet.
KEN
(Disgusted)
Now to get rid of these nasty ass clothes.
He walks over to a darkened spot on the concrete floor, where he takes off his shirt, pants, and gloves. He throws them into the dark circle on the floor. He walks back over to the cabinet and gets a can of gasoline and a match. He goes back to the pile of clothes, pours gasoline over them, strikes the match and throws it on his gas soaked clothes, setting them ablaze. He stands there and stares at the flame with a slight smile on his face. As the clothes burns he begins to examine his body.
KEN
(worried)
I better not have any bruises because of that bitch. I don’t need anybody asking me questions...
He then goes behind the stairs and pulls out a fire extinguisher. He extinguishes the blaze and leaves the pile of ash that used to be his clothes on the floor and heads back upstairs.
EXT. SANDY’S APARTMENT BUILDING LATE AFTERNOON
Sandy is walking up to the door that leads to the inside of the building. She opens the door and enters the:
HALLWAY
She walks down the hall, stops at her door and fumbles around with her keys for the key to her lock. She tries to unlock her door, but she has the wrong key.
SANDY
(annoyed)
Get with it, Sandy...
She fumbles around for another moment and finally gets the right key and opens her door, entering her
LIVING ROOM
Booger comes running up to her from behind the couch.
SANDY
(excited, happy)
Hey Booger! How’s my bestest friend doing today? Huh? You need some food? Let’s go get you some food.
She walks into the:
KITCHEN
And over to Boogers bowl. She reaches for the cabinet, but then realizes that Booger’s bowl is full
SANDY
(concerned)
You didn’t eat much today did you? What’s the matter sweetheart?
Booger looks up at her, meows, and then rubs up against her legs.
SANDY
You’ve realized somethings wrong with mommy, haven’t you? It’s okay, Booger. I’m just worrying about nothing. Now go eat!
Booger stares at her and then follows her to the BEDROOM door, where she stops.
SANDY
(angry, annoyed)
Booger! Eat!
She pushes the cat back with her foot and hurries
into the:
BEDROOM
Closing the door quickly before the cat can get in. She begins to take her work clothes off when a horrible scratching is heard at the door. It startles her at first, then she realizes it’s Booger. She let’s out a sigh of surrender and goes over to the door and let’s her in. She finsihes taking off her clothes and puts on her nightgown. She sits down on the edge of the bed, staring out of her window at the busy street outside and Booger jumps up next to her and lays in her lap. Sandy begins to per her [Booger].
SANDY
(worried)
Oh, Booger. I really hope it’s nothing. But I’ll always have you, won’t I?
Booger meows as if in agreement, and begins purring as Sandy pets her and stares out the window.
INT. KEN’S HOUSE EARLY EVENING
Ken is in the basement, looking through his weapon cabinet for something.
KEN
(excited)
AHA!!! Found it!
He pulls a power drill out of the cabinet.
KEN
Should I really risk it though? Two within a twenty-four hour period?
He thinks about it for a moment, then he revs the drill a couple of times.
KEN
Of course I should. Cops are all retards around these parts anyway. I’ll be fine, as long as they’re neighbors aren’t too close. I can sense a lot of screaming tonight...
The phone in the kitchen rings and it startles him a bit. He runs up the stairs into the:
KITCHEN
And answers the phone.
KEN
Hello?
SANDY
(on the other end of the line)
Hi.
KEN
What’s up sweetheart?
SANDY
(Nervous, worried)
Do you think you could come over here tonight. I’m a little nervous.
KEN
Nervous? About what?
SANDY
(Worried)
Everything that’s going on. And the news reporters aren’t making it any easier for me. I just need you here right now.
KEN
I’d love to babe, but I can’t. I have too much stuff I have to do for work tonight.
SANDY
Can you come by when your done?
KEN
(starting to get anxious)
No. I’ll be at the office until pretty late tonight. I’m sure Booger can take care of you in my place.
SANDY
(Annoyed)
Booger is a cat Ken. She can’t give me the kind of support you can. You’re sure you can’t make it?
KEN
Yes. I’ll make it up to you, though. I promise.
SANDY
(irritated)
Okay, then. Bye.
She hangs up the phone before he can even say goodbye. he hangs up the phone and shakes his head in disappointment.
KEN
(To himself)
She has nothing to worry about. I wouldn’t hurt her. That is unless it was necessary. I hope that never happens.
He leaves the kitchen and enters the:
GARAGE
And gets into his car. The garage door opens and he peels out.
INT. KEN’S CAR EVENING
As Ken is driving he is looking around almost frantically. He turns down many side roads.
KEN
(Frantic, eager)
Come on, come on! There must be a good place around here somewhere.
He turns onto a dirt road leading out into the woods.
KEN
(Frustrated)
If this doesn’t lead to a house out in the middle of nowhere, I give up.
After a little driving down the dirt road, he finally comes to one lone house. It’s positioned on the side of the road. He drives a ways by it as not to arouse any suspicion in the people inside.
KEN
(satisfied)
Yes, this will do nicely.
He grabs the drill from the passenger seat and gets out of the car.
EXT. OLD COUPLE’S HOUSE EVENING
Ken walks up to the house, staying low. He peeks in a window and sees that the house is dark.
KEN
(Frustrated)
There better be someone here.
He goes to the front door and turns the handle. It opens and he quietly steps inside. He walks around the downstairs area of the house and doesn’t find anything. He heads back to the door and is about to leave, when he hears a giggle from upstairs.
KEN
(Relieved)
Oh thank God. I was almost disappointed.
He makes his way up the stairs to the
SECOND FLOOR HALLWAY
He sees a light streaming out from a crack in a door at the end of the hallway. He sneaks down the hallway and peaks into the door. And old couple is in the bedroom. The old woman is lying on the bed, in an erotic, provocative nightgown and the old man is in his underwear and he puts a record in the record player. Soothing, sexual music begins to play (something by Al Green). The old man makes his way over to the old woman and lays on top of her and the two begin kissing. Ken has to cover his mouth to stop himself from laughing. He calms down and a serious look overcomes his face.
KEN
(Serious)
Till death do you part.
Ken slowly opens the door and enters the room. He slowly and quietly makes his way over to the bed. He chuckles a little and shakes his head when he sees the couple. He makes his way over to the left side of the bed. The old man is kissing the old woman’s neck. Her eyes are closed and she is moaning a little bit. Ken revs the drill and the woman opens her eyes. She sees ken standing there and screams. Before the oldman can even turn to see him, Ken drives the drill into his skull. The woman tries frantically to get the man off of her, but before she can, Ken runs the drill through each of her legs numerous times, rendering her helpless. Ken pushes the old man off of her and sits on the edge of the bed.
KEN
(calmly)
So, how would you like to die this evening, ma’am.
OLD WOMAN
(crying, frantic)
Why are you doing this? Why us?
KEN
Why not? Consider yourselves lucky. You’ll be my final victims for a while. At least until the investigation dies down a little bit. I’m making you famous.
OLD WOMAN
(Yelling in fear)
You’re crazy. You are never going to get away with this.
KEN
Yeah, that’s what the girl I got earlier said too. Maybe I won’t get away with it. Let them catch me. I really don’t care.
OLD WOMAN
Why not? What happened to you to make you completely disrespect life like this?
KEN
You know, I kind of like you. Okay, I’ll tell you what happened. When I was 18 my parents were killed in a car accident. But not just some random car accident. They were on their way to my high school graduation. They were late and in a hurry. They ran a stop sign and were hit by a truck, killing them both. My biggest accomplishment caused the death of my parents.
OLD WOMAN
That’s no reason to become a homicidal maniac. Please be reasonable about this.
KEN
I know what you’re doing. You’re playing therapist. But you don’t really care about me, you’re just trying to save yourself. I’m not going to let that happen. You’ve stalled me long enough.
He then runs the drill into her midsection three times. She begins to cough and gag. He stares right into her eyes with a cold look on his face.
KEN
I’ll give you a luxury my other victims didn’t have. Which of your body parts should I take home with me.
OLD WOMAN
(coughing, gaging. mumbles cannot be understood.)
KEN
Okay, head it is. I’ll take his too. You’ll be my first two heads. Congratulations.
He then runs the drill underneath her chin. She let’s out a gurgling sound. He leaves the drill in, holding the trigger down to keep it going, until she finally dies.
KEN
Dammit. How am I going to get their heads off?
He stops to think for a moment.
KEN
(Excited, relieved)
Oh yeah! My axe is in the trunk!
EXT. KEN’S CAR NIGHT
Ken opens his trunk, throws the drill in and pulls out his axe. He kisses the head of the axe, and runs off towards the house.
INT. OLD COUPLE’S BEDROOM NIGHT
Ken burst through the door, rushes over to the woman and swings the axe at her head.
INT. KEN’S BEDROOM MORNING
Ken is lying in bed, sleeping. His phone rings and it startles him, waking him up.
KEN
(irritated)
God dammit.
He reaches over to the phone on his night stand and picks it up, fumbling it around until he finally gets it up to his ear.
KEN
(half awake)
Hello?
INT. SANDY’S BEDROOM MORNING
Sandy is sitting at the side of her bed, with Booger in her lap. She is staring at the floor, eyes and cheeks wet with tears, holding the phone to her ear.
SANDY
(chillingly)
They’re dead.
KEN
(on other end of line)
Who’s dead?
SANDY
(Hysterically)
My parents. They were killed last night. But that’s not even the worst part.
KEN
(a look of horror on his face)
Do I want to know...
SANDY
Their heads are missing.
She breaks down and starts to sob uncontrolably.
SANDY
(Scared)
I really need you right now Ken, I’m coming over.
KEN
No, Sandy, you....
She hangs up the phone before he can finish his sentence.
KEN
...can’t.
(angry, frustrated)
Dammit, I gotta get to work!
He hangs up the phone and gets out of bed. He goes over to his dresser and pulls out a shirt and pants and puts them on. He heads out of the BEDROOM and into the
KITCHEN
where his keys are sitting on the counter. He grabs them and heads out the door, forgetting to lock it.
EXT. KEN’S HOUSE MORNING
Sandy walks up to the front door and knocks. No one answers. She has a puzzled look on her face and knocks again. Again, there is no answer. Frustrated, she tries the door handle. She realizes that the door is unlocked and opens it just enough to peek her head in.
INT. KEN’S LIVING ROOM MORNING
Sandy peeks her head inside the door.
SANDY
(yelling)
Hello? Ken?
Her call echos through the empty house and there is no answer. She slowly makes her way into the house and closes the door behind her.
SANDY
Ken? Are you here?
She walks into the:
KITCHEN
And sees that the basement door is open slightly. She opens the door all the way and takes the first step down.
SANDY
Ken? Are you down here?
She makes her way to the bottom of the stairs into the:
BASEMENT
and reaches above her head, searching for a pull-string. She finally finds it and turns the light on. As she examines the basement she notices the charred floor with a pile of burnt clothes on it.
SANDY
(Puzzled)
What the...?
She makes her way over to the burned pile of clothes, with a completely confused look on her face.
SANDY
(Confused)
Why the hell would he burn his clothes?
She looks over and notices the freezer across the room. She slowly walks over to it. When she arrives, she notices the lock is on the floor. She throws the lid open, revealing pounds and pounds of blood stained ice.
SANDY
(Disgusted, shocked, uneasy)
What the fuck is this?
She looks more closely into the freezer and notices something underneath the ice. With a deep breath she begins to slowly push the ice to the side. After she clears some of the ice, the objects begin to resemble human heads. She begins to throw the ice from the cooler onto the floor. She clears the ice from the heads and sees that they are in fact the heads of her parents, surrounded by a couple of arms and the hand wrapped in the trashbag.
SANDY
(crying, frantic)
No...no it can’t be!
She gags a little and runs up the stairs to the:
BATHROOM
where she proceeds to vomit into the toilet. When she is finished she sits on the floor and cries for a short time, then suddenly stops. She stands up slowly and has an angry look on her face.
SANDY
(Infuriated)
He will not get away with this. I won’t let him. So help me God, he is going to pay for this.
She leaves the BATHROOM and enters the:
KITCHEN
Where she closes the basement door all the way, then leaves the house.
INT. KEN’S HOUSE NIGHT
Ken walks through the front door and immediately sense that something is wrong. He walks into the kitchen with a puzzled look on his face. He puts his keys down on the counter and begins to look around. He turns around and notices that the basement door is completely shut.
KEN
(Puzzled)
I could have sworn I left that open a little bit this morning.
He opens the door and looks down the stairs. He can see that the light is on.
KEN
Hello? Is someone down there?
He walks down the stairs into the:
BASEMENT
and looks around with the same puzzled look on his face. He looks to his left and sees that the freezer is open.
KEN
(Confused)
What the...
He walks over to his freezer and looks inside. He sees that the heads are exposed. He looks down at the floor and sees the ice that was thrown from the chest and is spread everywhere.
KEN
(Nervous)
Someone knows... but who? I better find out quickly, so I can take care of them before I get into trouble.
He begins to look around the room for clues. He walks all around the BASEMENT but fails to find anything. Just as he is about to give up, he heads back over to the ice chest and kneels down in front of it, pulling a strand of Sandy’s hair from a puddle on the floor. He holds the hair up and stares at it, in shock for a few moments.
KEN
(Angry)
Of all the people, why did it have to be her?
He drops the hair and it gently floats back down into the puddle. Ken walks back the up stairs into the
KITCHEN
and picks up the phone.
INT. SANDY’S KITCHEN NIGHT
The phone rings once and Sandy comes running into the room. It rings again and she answers it.
SANDY
Hello?
KEN
(On other end of phone line)
Hey.
SANDY
(Quiet, nervous)
Hi.
KEN
(Regretful)
I’m really sorry I couldn’t be there for you today. How about you come over for dinner tomorrow night?
SANDY
(After a slight pause, nervous)
Ok. What time?
KEN
how about 6ish?
SANDY
Sounds good to me. See you then.
KEN
Alright. I love you.
She hangs up the phone and walks into her:
BEDROOM
where she lays down on her bed and stares at the ceiling.
SANDY
(Doubtful)
“I love you.” Yeah right.
Booger jumps up and lays next to her. She begins to pet Booger as she stares hopelessly at the ceiling.
SANDY
(Concerned, worried)
Booger... what should I do?
Booger meows, and a tear rolls down Sandy’s face. She quickly wipes it away and turns out the light.
INT. KEN’S BASEMENT NIGHT
Ken is looking through his hunting cabinet. Half of his body is blocked by the door. Loud sounds of metal clashing together can be heard and a hammer and some other small tools come flying out of the cabinet.
KEN
(Relieved)
Finally. I knew I had one.
Ken backs away from the cabinet, revealing a bear trap in his hands.
KEN
(Satisfied)
Quick and painless...
He drops the trap on the floor in front of the cabinet, causing a loud bang when it hits. He proceeds to set it up. After the trap is set, he looks at it with a sick smile on his face and gives a little chuckle. He walks over to the bottom of the stairs and turns the Basement light off, and goes upstairs into the:
KITCHEN
and turns the light off there. He then leaves the kitchen and goes to his:
BEDROOM
He walks over to his night stand and turns on the light. He strips down to his underwear, takes his night pants from the end of his bed, puts them on, crawls into bed, and turns off the light.
INT. SANDY’S BEDROOM MORNING
The alarm sounds. Sandy is lying in bed, still staring at the ceiling. There are dark circles around her eyes, suggesting she didn’t sleep at all. She reaches over, still looking up, and shuts the alarm off.
SANDY
(sad, regretful)
I guess I don’t really have a choice. I need to do what’s right. I need to kill him.
She sits up and rubs her eyes. She gets out of bed and goes into the:
BATHROOM
with Booger following right behind her. She leans on the sink and stares into the mirror.
SANDY
(Disgusted)
ugh... I can’t go looking like this, he’ll get suspicious.
She runs the bath water and sits down next to the bathtub, petting Booger as it fills with water.
INT. KEN’S DINING ROOM AFTERNOON
Ken places two large candles in the center of the table.
KEN
(Happy, proud)
That should do it.
He goes to the linen closet in the:
KITCHEN
and pulls out a broom. He takes the broom downstairs to the
BASEMENT
KEN
(Curious)
Let’s see if this thing works...
He walks over to the bear trap and sticks the handle into the center, causing the trap to snap shut.
KEN
(Very impressed)
Whoa! I guess it works just fine!
He resets the trap and goes back up the stairs.
INT. SANDY’S BEDROOM LATE AFTERNOON
Sandy is finishing putting her makeup on in the mirror. When she finishes, she leaves the bedroom and goes to the:
LIVING ROOM
where she is just about to leave. Right before she opens the door, she pulls her hand back and turns around. She goes into the:
KITCHEN
and pulls a decently large knife out of the drawer. She puts it in her purse and sees Booger eating.
SANDY
(Happy)
It’s good to see you eating again Booger.
Sandy kneels down beside Booger.
SANDY
(Worried, sad)
Booger, I may not come back tonight. I just want you to know that mommy loves you.
Booger meows and rubs up against her legs, purring. Sandy bends down and gives him a kiss on the head and a tear rolls down her face. She wipes the tear and walks into the
LIVING ROOM
She reaches for the door, but she hesitates. She takes a deep breath, opens the door, and leaves.
INT. KEN’S DINING ROOM EARLY EVENING
Ken is lighting the candles on the table. After all the candles are lit, he goes to the:
KITCHEN
and pulls a fairly large roast from the oven. He sets it on the counter when the doorbell rings. He runs to the:
LIVING ROOM
and opens the door, revealing Sandy, who has a somewhat forced smile on her face.
KEN
(Happy)
Hey babe!
SANDY
(Trying to hide her nervousness)
Hi.
She walks in and the two hug and kiss. Ken leads her into the
DINING ROOM
and shows her to her seat.
KEN
Have a seat right here, I’ll go get the food.
SANDY
Okay.
Ken leaves the room and Sandy just sits there staring blankly into the flame of the candle in front of her. Ken walks back into the room with two plates, with slices of the roast on each.
KEN
Here you go, hun.
SANDY
Thanks.
Sandy cuts into he roast and takes a bite. Ken just stares at her from across the table.
SANDY
(Worried)
What’s wrong? Is there something on my face?
KEN
No, no. I was just admiring how beautiful the candles make you look.
SANDY
(Flattered)
Awww...thank you.
KEN
You are very welcome sweetheart.
Sandy takes another bite of the roast.
KEN
Are you thirsty at all, babe?
SANDY
A little.
KEN
I’ll go get something to drink.
SANDY
Okay.
She smiles as he walks by, but when once he’s out of the room the smile immediately disappears from her face. She puts her purse on her lap and takes out the knife, drops the purse on the floor, and goes into the:
KITCHEN
Ken is standing at the counter, pouring some champagne into two glasses. Sandy lifts the knife above her head and runs at him. She swings the knife down, but Ken moves out of the way.
KEN
(Angry)
What the hell are you doing??
SANDY
(Furious)
You killed my parents you sick son of a bitch!
Sandy charges at him again, and again he dodges her.
KEN
Well, to be fair, I didn’t know they were your parents.
That comment absolutely enrages Sandy. Tears stream down her face and she stares at Ken, who backs up to the basement door.
KEN
(Calm)
So what, are you going to kill me? You don’t have it in you Sandy, I know you don’t. Come on. Run me through.
Sandy screams and charges at him with the knife out in front of her. Ken dodges and opens the door, causing Sandy to tumble down the stairs into the:
BASEMENT
she grabs the railing on the way down, causing her to spin around and slam her back hard against it. Ken makes his way down to her.
KEN
Come on Sandy. You must have more fight in you than that.
He kicks her in the face causing her to fall the rest of the way down. She lays on the floor, bleeding from her mouth and nose. Ken comes down and walks around her, toward the bear trap that is set up on the floor.
KEN
(Provocative)
Let’s go Sandy. What do you got?
Sandy struggle to her feet and again lunges at Ken, who sidesteps, gets behind her, and pushes her. The force from the push causes her to trip and the knife flies out of her hands. As she falls, the knife lands in the center of the trap, causing it to close less than an inch from Sandy’s nose. Sandy falls to the floor next to the trap.
KEN
(Frustrated)
Dammit! What the hell am I gonna do know?
He walks over to the hunting cabinet and begins to search for something. Sandy looks to her right and sees that the knife is on the floor. She picks it up and heads over to the bottom of the stairs.
SANDY
(Winded, injured, angry)
Eat this you son of a bitch.
She throws the knife, hitting the wall next to him. He stops looking through the cabinet and picks up the knife off the floor.
KEN
Thanks.
He turns and looks at Sandy who runs up the stairs. He walks over to the bottom of the stairs and looks up, seeing her standing in the doorway. He begins to slowly walk up the stairs.
KEN
You should have just taken the bear trap. That wouldn’t have hurt at all. But you messed up the whole thing, and now it will probably hurt. Are you happy?
SANDY
(Frustrated, angry)
Oh fuck you Ken! You don’t really care! I’m in enough pain right now anyway, Do your worst, asshole!
Ken lets out a snicker and gets to the top step. He raises the knife but before he can stab her, Sandy kicks him in the chest, sending him flying down the stairs. He flips down the stairs backwards, in what looks like a very painful fall. He lies on the basement floor, unconscious and bloody.
SANDY
Now this whole damn house goes along with you.
She staggers threw the KITCHEN into the:
GARAGE
She walks past Ken’s car and picks up a gas can. She shakes it to check it’s fullness.
SANDY
Good, it’s full.
She walks back into the:
KITCHEN
and begins to pour a trail of gasoline around the room and then goes into the:
DINING ROOM
where she does the same thing. The can empties and she throws it behind her. She picks up a candle from the table and goes into the:
KITCHEN
and looks down the stairs. Ken can no longer be seen. Suddenly, Ken comes up from behind her and runs the knife into her side. She lets out a scream and staggers back into the:
DINING ROOM
still holding the candle, she leans on the table.
KEN
What are you doing Sandy? Have you lost it?
SANDY
(angry, yelling)
Have I lost it? Me!? What about you? How many people did you kill, 5? 6? Two of which were my fucking parents. Fuck you Ken, I’m gonna burn you alive.
KEN
(Sarcastic)
Oh, are you know.
He runs over to her and runs the knife through her stomach and then backs away, leaving the knife in her.
SANDY
(Whispering)
Burn in hell, asshole.
She backs slowly into the:
LIVING ROOM
KEN
Hey, where you going?
Ken follows her and grabs her when she reaches the door way. She turns around and punches him hard in the face, knocking him back and causing him to bleed from the nose. This infuriates him and he lets out a scream and charges her. She puts the candle in her mouth so the flame is sticking out in from of her, jumps up, grabs the top of the door frame and kicks him in the chest with both feet, causing him to fall far into the dining room. She drops from the door frame and immediately throws the candle into the room, igniting a massive blaze. She stands back and watches for a moment, as Ken catches fire, then she runs out of the house onto:
KEN’S FRONT LAWN
INT. KEN’S DINING ROOM EVENING
Ken is on fire, running around frantically. He runs into the:
KITCHEN
and finally falls to the floor. After twitching and screaming for a few moments, he lies motionless. He’s dead.
EXT. KEN’S FRONT LAWN EVENING
Sandy sits on the lawn staring up at the burning house.
SANDY
(Relieved, winded)
It’s over. Finally, this nightmare is over.
She stands up, holding the knife impaled in her stomach. She turns from the house and attempts to remove the knife, but the moment she moves it, she begins to cough up blood. She falls to her knees, and is able to successfully remove the knife. She coughs up more blood and drops the knife on the ground. Police cars and fire engines appear on the scene. An officer gets out of his cruiser and sprints towards Sandy, kneeling beside her when he gets there.
POLICE OFFICER
(Worried)
Ma’am, are you ok?
Sandy stares him in the face and then drops to the ground, dead.
FADE OUT
ROLL CREDITS.

I know what you’re doing. You’re playing therapist. But you don’t really care about me, you’re just trying to save yourself. I’m not going to let that happen. You’ve stalled me long enough.
Sandy stares him in the face and then drops to the ground, dead.
Josh, you have totally fucking surprised me with this one. I keep double-checking the username to make sure it's you. I had no clue you had this kind of talent. You totally earned the A. I'm just... stunned. I'm just fucking stunned.
